San Marino is a small suburban residential community northeast of Los Angeles. The internationally renowned Huntington Library is located in the city, and Caltech is nearby. San Marino schools benefit from partnerships with both institutions. SMHS is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges through the Focus on Learning process. San Marino High School employs 50 teachers, 5 counselors, 8 support personnel during an academic year of 180 school days separated into two 20-week semesters. More than 75% of students attend a six-week summer school program primarily for enrichment and advancement. Technology is abundant for use by students, teachers, and the community with strong WiFi, Apple TV in each classroom, and individual devices for all students and staff. San Marino High School developed and offers the Golden Bell award-winning Honors Humanities course through the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens as well as the CalTech STEM Research course. San Marino High School also maintains a BRAVO Award-Winning Performing Arts Program, award-winning speech and debate, and robotics teams as well as multiple CIF champion sports teams.
