Drama - Beginning
Grades: 9-12
Beginning Drama is the first class in the theatre arts series. It introduces students to the process of enjoying and performing live theatre. It is designed to develop the student’s imagination and self-confidence as well as build problem-solving skills and self-reflection abilities. Students will learn fundamental acting techniques and theatre vocabulary while becoming familiar with the basic aspects of the technical experience. This is a participation-heavy class, and students will be working primarily in collaborative peer groups.
Grades: 9-12

Intermediate Drama
Grades: 10-12
Prerequisites: Beginning Drama
Intermediate Drama is the second in the theatre arts series and is open to any student who has passed beginning drama. This class is designed to continue the student’s engagement in the dramatic process. It builds upon the skills acquired in beginning drama, introducing more complex acting techniques and theatre vocabulary, script analysis, and scene work, including the basic directing and playwriting principles.
Grades: 10-12
Prerequisites: Beginning Drama
Intermediate Drama is the second in the theatre arts series and is open to any student who has passed beginning drama. This class is designed to continue the student’s engagement in the dramatic process. It builds upon the skills acquired in beginning drama, introducing more complex acting techniques and theatre vocabulary, script analysis, and scene work, including the basic directing and playwriting principles.
Advanced Drama Honors
Grades: 10-12
Prerequisites: Audition Based
Advanced Drama is the final level offered in the theatre arts series and it is open to any 11th and 12th graders who have met prerequisite requirements and completed the auditioning process. This class is designed to prepare students to enter college as artists but also creates advanced-level thinkers and learners. This class is fast-paced and has required performance expectations. These students are held to a higher level of accountability and the highest expectations. This class works in advanced group collaborations, has heavy time demands, and requires exploration into mature aspects of the human condition.

Stage Management (Non-UC/CSU) 5 credits (1 Semester)
Grades: 10-12
Stage Management: “Tech Theatre” Stage Management is a one-semester elective class that is open to any 10th, 11th, or 12th graders and can be taken for multiple years. The goal of the class is to create competent technicians trained in state-of-the-art theatre equipment and basic tools. This class engages the student’s imagination and encourages them to think on their own and operate under high-pressure situations. This course does not meet UC/CSU standards for the 80-credit Elective requirement.
